| Abstract This report presents strategies for improving healthcare system performance in Massachusetts through expanded availability of comparative cost and quality information and increased use of consumer and provider financial incentives. The report analyzes current health care transparency initiatives and consumer-directed healthcare products in Massachusetts, and innovative public and private programs in other states. The report makes a series of recommendations directed at Massachusetts purchasers, providers and public officials designed to accelerate the availability of objective performance data and improve financial incentives for quality and efficiency improvements. | |
