Education

Health Care is one of the three major educational and research areas of The Heller School. Because of the significant number of health services research projects, particularly those focused on the performance of organizations, undertaken by faculty at the Schneider Institutes for Health Policy, this area has an abundance of "learning by doing" opportunities and course offerings for both students in the master's programs and the doctoral program.

The Schneider Institutes for Health Policy are the home for two Federally-sponsored research training programs that support and educate qualified doctoral students interested in research careers. The two are the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality Doctoral Training Fellowship in Health Services Research and Policy Analysis (AHRQ) and The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism Doctoral Training Fellowship in Alcohol-Related Health Services Research (NIAAA), both of which have a number of specific requirements as a result of being federally funded.

While all full or part-time doctoral students emphasizing health care, but not supported by the federally funded programs, are required to participate in either the acute care or behavioral health care dissertation seminar, they have great flexibility in course selection.
